This Code sets the standards of integrity, respect and accountability expected from people who represent YVEI or contribute to its work.
1. Integrity and honesty
Act honestly, keep accurate records, communicate truthfully and never misuse YVEI’s name, funds, property, information or relationships for improper benefit.
2. Respect and inclusion
Treat every person with dignity. Discrimination, harassment, bullying, intimidation and degrading conduct are inconsistent with YVEI’s values.
3. Safeguarding responsibilities
Follow YVEI’s Safeguarding and Child Protection policies, maintain appropriate boundaries and report concerns promptly. The duty to protect people from harm takes priority over reputational considerations.
4. Conflicts of interest
Disclose personal, family, financial or organizational interests that could affect—or appear to affect—an impartial decision. Do not participate in a decision where an unmanaged conflict exists.
5. Responsible use of resources
Use donations, equipment, information and working time only for legitimate YVEI purposes, with appropriate authorization and records. Prevent waste, fraud and unauthorized personal use.
6. Privacy and confidentiality
Protect personal, safeguarding, donor, volunteer and partner information. Access or share it only where authorized and necessary for the work.
7. Public communications
Represent YVEI accurately, avoid unsupported claims, respect consent and dignity in stories and images, and make clear when a personal opinion is not an official YVEI position.
8. Reporting and accountability
Concerns about unethical conduct may be reported to yveinitiative@gmail.com. Good-faith reports should be handled fairly and without retaliation. Confirmed breaches may result in corrective action or ending a person’s relationship with YVEI.
